“Mon Mon Mon MONSTERS” depicts school bullying through an originated urban legend. By creating a horrific and mysterious vibe and showing the obscureness of society, I design the actual world with some unrealistic touch so the audience can feel more related to the story.

STAGE SET

These high school kids set up their secret meeting spot in the shower room under the school's abandoned swimming pool. Inspired by Japanese communal baths, the layout of a typical swimming pool has changed into a darker and more spacious area so that the dampness, rust, and darkness will be amplified. Also, the big area can hide everything filthy and stealthy.

Within the tight budget, constructing this set in a sound stage is not an option. Instead, we used a worn-out building and transformed it into the veteran's room and residence.
The reason for creating such an obscure place is to tell the audience about these low-income solitary elders' housing conditions, as well as the horrific crimes out there. But, sadly, society wouldn't notice.
